If you plan far enough ahead, however, you can possibly avoid this issue. Sit down with your accountant before you file and tell them you’re planning on buying a house. You may decide together to take fewer deductions than you’re actually due in order to make your returns more palatable to a bank. Or they may have other ideas to help you out. Either way, it’s worth your time to have a conversation about your status.
Pope Joy Hall houses many international acts. It’s the one place where you can see Irish dance, A Tribute to the Beatles, The Book of Mormon, or solo Jack White all under the same roof. Put it simply: The acts that perform here are usually world renowned and worth the ticket price.
Making templates is a helpful way to eliminate wasted time when you’re composing, recording, and mixing. Not only do you want to be ready to work when inspiration hits, but your workflow should continue to be effective as you finish your project or help your clients finish their projects.

You can’t have a blog post about blogs without mentioning Earmilk. Spanning several genres, Earmilk is one of the top destinations for any emerging or nationally recognized artists to land their music, which also makes it one of the best places to discover new music. Boasting their own playlist featured with talent like Kendrick Lamar and Travis Scott, Earmilk also blogs quite a bit with premieres, reviews, and general hip-hop news. While they primarily feature artists you’ve already heard of, every now and again an underground artist will sneak in.
Solution: Create criteria. One of the biggest mistakes ambitious musicians make is overbooking just for the sake of playing out. I constantly hear colleagues complaining about gigs their bandleaders probably shouldn’t have taken in the first place. A band member once made me promise I would only take gigs if I could answer “yes” to at least two of these questions: (1) Is it lucrative enough to ensure that no band member is losing money (including the pay they would sacrifice if they had to turn down another show because of this one)? (2) Will it give us real exposure or positively build the band’s identity? (3) Could it be the most fun we’ve had all year?
Anybody can buy a $50 microphone and start recording, and in fact, with increasingly popular companies like Anchor, you don’t even need the damn microphone! This offers amateur users great accessibility and a lot of interesting and niche content; as a result, you might be wondering, “how can I stand out from the crowd?” I’m here to answer that question and take you from a bedroom podcaster to a studio quality podcast pro.

In addition to plugins like the above, there are many software instruments and patch libraries that will provide you with ready-made approximations of that coveted Boards of Canada sound. These will no doubt be valuable to some, but I’m a believer in DIY production: You get way more financial and personal value from learning the process yourself rather than using a tool where it’s hidden away from you under the hood.

Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Für Elise” provides us with the first example of a minor second, and it can be found in the first “seconds” of the piece — in other words, the first two notes are a descending minor second apart.
Bob Dylan is particularly famous for doing this. It’s not uncommon to adapt everything from nursery rhymes to full-blown songs. Here’s where Dylan got the inspiration for “Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright”:
“I have a fictitious person I write for. And she’s called Doris, and she’s from Bradford and she wears a raincoat and she has two horrible little kids that are giving her nothing but grief. And you know, the man left her a while back. And she just, in the rain, everyday, trudges to work and she works hard.”
It’s right there in the title — you’ll be able to make music in Logic Pro X! By the end of this course, you’ll be comfortable writing and editing complete tracks in Logic, and starting to get your mixes sounding awesome in a rough state.
This album also did two things beyond Brown himself. First, it would help cement soul and funk as commercially viable mainstream music genres. Soul could be fun, loud, raucous and youthful; not just sentimental and romantic. Secondly, it demonstrated the power of a live album to make money, and assured record producers and labels alike that consumers would be willing to buy the same songs on two different albums if one was live.
